Headaches Treatment - Natural Cures That Work

migraine headaches

Most headaches are caused by muscle tension in the head, neck and shoulder areas, often caused by strenuous work or bad posture of the body. Before running to the drug store to take pain relief medications like Advil, Aleve or Tylenol, there are natural remedies and supplements that can prevent, reduce and even eliminate the pain.

What are some effective natural headaches treatment that works?

There are many natural remedies that work to cure headaches, the ones listed below are commonly used and is shown to be effective for many people suffering from constant or occasional headaches including migraine headaches.

Magnesium

This mineral has been studied for preventing and treating migraine headaches and experts believe it can be helpful in curing tension headaches as well. Magnesium is essential for the nervous system and blood vessels to function properly. Researchers discovered through clinical trials that people suffering from migraine headaches seem to have lower blood levels of magnesium than those who do not.

The recommended dose is 200 mg three times daily. Lower dose may be effective for some people as well.

Feverfew

Feverfew is a very popular and effective herb for headaches treatment. It is traditionally used to get rid of migraine headaches. It can be helpful for other types of headaches such as tension headaches as well.

Experts suggest using a standardized product rather than the raw herbs. This will ensure that you get the same amount of the active ingredient parthenolides from bottle to bottle.

Health Care - Who Really Cares?

sick people

Health care is a hot political topic - but most of the attention focuses on how Americans will get their health care costs covered. While this is important, a much bigger issue often flies under the radar. The question that most people don't ask should be 'Is our health care system really designed to improve your health?'

What's the Business Model in Health Care?

Let's look at a typical business model (Yes, health care is a business). Companies are in business to make a profit in exchange for products or services that improve people's lives. Whether it's a lawn mower company making it easier for you to care for your yard or an airline company getting you where you need to go. The basic premise is the same. They help you in exchange for payment. If they don't provide a quality product or service they quickly run out of people to sell to.

There are only three ways that a business can increase it's profits. 1. Get more customers or clients. 2. Increase how many times existing customers or clients buy products or services. 3. Increase the profit margin on each transaction. That's it. All business growth fits into one of those 3 areas.

Now let's look at those in the context of the health care business. Presumably, health care is supposed to improve your health, which makes you less likely to need health care in the future. So how do health care businesses grow?

Health care companies cannot really use strategy #1. In order to get more customers there would have to be more sick people in need of health care services. That would mean that companies could not promote prevention because that would reduce the number of sick people.

Health and Fitness - Everything You Need to Know to Stay Healthy

health fitness

Health and fitness go together, just like milk and cookie, cake and tea, coffee and cream. They make a great team - one that can help us live a longer and better life. Thus, it is essential that we find out as much as we can about how to stay healthy and fit, a task that many people should not but take for granted.

These days, you can notice a number of negative changes in the world we live in. The air isn't is as clean and clear as it once was centuries ago, the water contaminated in many parts of the globe, the forests destroyed and nearly bare. Our way of living isn't as pure as we need it to be, and technological advancements, many though they may be, cannot save us from the consequences of our own actions. As the earth continues to deteriorate, so do the threats to our health and fitness keep on growing. It is up to us to do something about it, and it is our responsibility to ensure the well being not only of our own selves but also that of future generations.

And so we should pay attention and patronize activities that promote health and fitness. When it comes to staying healthy and fit, one of the most common concepts involved is proper diet. The number of obesity cases continue to rise every year, particularly in North America, and contrary to what products marketed as weight loss solutions claim, pills or supplements cannot put an end to obesity and other weight-related problems. Instead of relying on advertising baloney, we should create a plan made of tried and tested methods and do everything we can to achieve our goals. One of the best ways to go about this is to make a personalized menu. Every human anatomy is different; your body's needs are different from mine. Consulting a nutritionist is a good idea; he or she can tell us which foods to avoid (excessive eating of oily and fatty foods is always a no-no) and which to stock up on (good carbs, lean protein, fruits and vegetables, and grains, to name a few). Commitment is necessary, as well as patience; it can take weeks before our bodies adjust.

Health and Energy Drinks - Are They Really Healthy?

drinks loaded with

New health drinks and energy drinks seem to fill the coolers and store shelves these days. New beverages are marketed as sports drinks, vitamin water, energy drinks, diabetic drinks,weight-loss or weight-gain drinks and exotic fruit or plant extract drinks- with "miracle" health benefits. The spin is endless - the health claims are often based on fuzzy or no science. There are a few things we should consider when substituting these new beverages for plain old water or other traditional beverages.

Food and drink consumption is largely driven by lifestyle. Beverage manufacturers are in competition to appeal to our quick-changing lifestyles and as a result millions of dollars go in to formulating and marketing something to sell to us. Health and energy products have a special consumer appeal, so, it is profitable for beverage purveyors to associate "good-for-you" and "high energy" with all forms of liquid concoctions. Health and energy drinks are supposed to improve our life in some way, right? Many fall short or can actually hurt us.

Are all these new health and energy beverages really fit for human consumption? Many are absolutely not good for you. Check your labels. Most of these so called health drinks are loaded with sugars to make them palatable to our sugar craving taste buds. Since we aren't likely to buy many if they taste bad, beverage manufacturers are tempted to disguise the high sugar content of their beverages - because consumers in our new health conscious culture have quit buying so many of their high sugar soft drinks. Isn't high sugar content the reason we were told our kid's teeth are rotting and our butts are getting larger?

Health and Diet Tips - The Benefits of Drinking Water

glasses water

Drinking water is one of the most beneficial ways to help your body. Not only does it cleanse your body, but it replaces vital fluids that are lost and that your body requires. The human body is mostly made up of fluids and when you lose those fluids (through sweat glands and waste removal) that fluid needs to be replaced. You can get some of that fluid back through the foods you eat (try eating a juicy watermelon, for instance), but you still need to take in clear water to make your body and efficient machine.

Drinking water when you are trying to diet is especially important. Water helps to wash away and cleanse the fat and toxins out of your body. Water also helps you to feel 'fuller' and more satisfied so that you are not apt to eat as much food. When you have a craving, drinking a glass of water can help to curb it.

You should begin each day by drinking at least one glass of water. When you wake up in the morning, go to the bathroom and drink a glass of water before you do anything else. The water helps to get your digestive juices flowing and it lubricates the inside of your body. Drinking water at this stage will help you not eat as much at breakfast as well. Upon waking, your body may crave food because it has been working all night digesting food and using energy to do that. Therefore, you may tend to overeat at breakfast. Drinking a glass of water before you eat can help you with that. You can still have your coffee or tea, but have the water beforehand.

Again, drinking a glass of water before every meal will help you not eat as much. The water tends to fill you up so that you don't have the tendency to overeat. Besides, it has been recommended (and you have probably heard this a thousand times) that you drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. If you have one before every meal, that is half the battle won already.

Headaches Everyday Usually Means You Are Having Migraine

computer screen

Having headaches everyday equals a migraine but what is a migraine exactly? Well, a migraine is basically recurring headaches. But they can include other symptoms as well, such as sensitivity to light and noise, nausea, vomiting and dizziness.

So what causes a migraine then? usually its chemical changes happening in the brain that causes the attack. This starts a loop of changes, with the brain responding abnormally to signals from its own covering and blood vessels.

What about a cure? Researchers in Cambridge, UK compared the DNA of thousands of people having headaches everyday to those that were not. They found a genetic flaw could raise the odds of the disease by allowing glutamate which is a that transmits messages in the brain, to build up in the junctions between brain cells. A drug that could stop the build-up of glutamate could lead to a cure for the condition.

I have listed some migraine 'triggers' that may help you.

Turn Off iPhone:

Staring at your iPhone, computer screen or television for too long a period of time could bring on an attack. Glare can cause having headaches everyday. The brain has a threshold of how much glare it can withstand. If you suspect that this is a trigger for your migraine, it would be a good idea to put a screen up on your computer screen to reduce the glare. Watch less television and less iPhone too.

Should I Exercise?

Exercise has been noted as a trigger but research suggests moderate workouts can be therapeutic and even prevent am attack. There are few that find that exercise is a trigger. But this is quite rare. it doesn't mean you should stop exercising as this could effect your general health. There are preventative treatments available.

Heal Thyself - They Are Not Going To Save Us

Understand that

I am convinced there are some things that they do not want YOU to know about YOU. If you knew who you really are and what you are capable of, you would be healthier and happier -- and richer. Most of us, however, have adopted the idea that so-called experts know what is best for us. Therefore, we entrust our power, and our money, to the government, health care systems, educational systems, insurance companies, and various other agencies set up to protect us. They, however, are not going to save us.

Where Is the Cure?

Look around at what is happening in our world and our communities. How many years have we been marching, running, and cycling for "the cure?" Are we healthier? Why are there new diseases each year? Why are there more medications for these diseases, as well as the same old diseases year after year? The health statistics are more disturbing each year.

According to the Mental Health Association, 1 in 5 adults suffers from a diagnosable mental disorder in a given year.

In the U.S., 21.9 million adults and 8.9 million children under 18 have been diagnosed with asthma (Allergy & Asthma Network Mothers of Asthmatics - AANMA).

Nearly 1 in 3 adults has high blood pressure (The American Heart Association).

More than 1,500 people die of cancer each day (American Cancer Society).

There has been a 500 percent increase in the number of prescriptions written for ADHD since 1991 (Education-world.com)

Controlled

We are being poisoned and suppressed, mentally and spiritually, by the chemicals in our food and water, the polluted air we breathe, and by the high levels of electromagnetic waves in our environment. Can it be that the well-educated men and women in positions of power in this country and in the world cannot figure out what needs to happen to turn these health statistics around? Could it be about money, power and control? Yes, they are taking your money, your power, and you are being controlled. They are not going to save us.

Health and Fitness

more energy

Some people hold back from getting fit because they feel self-conscious about their ability or body and want to find an activity they can do on their own, but organized classes and sports clubs can provide you with support and motivation, as well as a chance to make new friends.

If you're interested in football, hockey or other team sports, for example, many local clubs will have several teams of varying abilities, while there are plenty of aerobics or yoga classes specifically designed to cater for beginners.

You're never too old to learn to swim, or you can take classes to improve your technique if that's what's holding you back.

But many activities can be done by yourself, and require neither technical expertise nor much in the way of equipment or expense - just your willingness to give it a go.

Here are some of the best, easiest and most popular ways to start getting fit, as well as some suggestions for alternatives, plus organizations that get you started or put you in touch with a local club.

Walking

Most of us walk at some point each day but we do it far less than we used to - the government calculates there been a decline of more than 20 per cent in the number of miles walked since the mid-1980s.

But walking the simplest and cheapest of all exercises, and making it a regular activity and focusing on the intensity or distance covered can greatly increase your fitness.

Walking improves the condition of your heart and lungs (cardiovascular fitness) and works the muscles of the lower body. It's a weight-bearing activity, so it may improve bone density, yet it's also low impact, putting less stress on the joints than some other forms of exercise.

Heal Your Dog With Natural Dog Treatment

side effects

There has been a lot of speculation recently on how mainstream medical dog treatment affects the life span of your dog. This is because recent medical research suggests that certain medications can have harmful side effects. This is why more and more veterinarians are actually advising natural treatments for canine ailments and providing the knowledge you need to heal your dog naturally. For thousands of years before dogs were domesticated, they would search for herbs to make them feel better when they were feeling ill. It was a hardwired instinct that was very beneficial to them.

As dog owners, we love our dogs. They are not just a dog to us, they are family so therefore we want the best dog treatment for them. In the past, we thought that it meant regular veterinarian visits and the most expensive dog foods only found at a veterinarians office. However, this has changed. This is not to say that veterinarians did not know what they were talking about. This is not the case. Medicine is something that we learn more about every day. This is also true of veterinary medicine and modern dog treatment is changing. Veterinarians are realizing that a dog's body can not work properly when certain chemicals are introduced, as well as the fact that they are more susceptible to the adverse effects of chemicals in some medications.

Knowing how to heal your dog naturally can help increase the life span of your pet.

medical treatment

Medicines often have side effects. So it is understandable that we would want to make sure that our dogs are not subject to this. Even vaccinations are being re-thought by veterinarians. Whereas veterinarians used to recommend having dogs vaccinated annually, most vets advise now against this. Instead, it is recommended to provide these vaccinations every three to five years. A yearly vaccination routine has been found to cause blood diseases and in some rare instances, cancer.

Healing Fibroids Naturally With a Fibroids Diet

cause fibroids

If you have fibroids, you will probably have explored your treatment options with your doctor and realized that for most women, there appears to be no satisfactory solution. For women with mild symptoms, taking no action is an option as fibroids are rarely dangerous. If, however, your fibroids are disrupting your day to day life and well-being, you should certainly be proactive and healing fibroids naturally with a fibroid diet is worthy of consideration.

Firstly, it is important to understand that there is no one cause of fibroids, which is one of the reasons why conventional medicine is useless when it comes to treating the root cause. Medication can temporarily shrink fibroids, but is not a long term solution and surgery can remove individual or groups of fibroids. However, as these options do nothing to treat the root cause, the fibroids are very likely to return.

Healing fibroids naturally is only possible when you treat all the possible root causes simultaneously and a fibroid diet is one aspect of a holistic treatment. As it is impossible to isolate the precise causes in individuals, successful treatment will include dietary measures, detoxification of the liver, exercise, herbal remedies, supplements, measures to reduce estrogen, to name a few.

Most of us already know what makes the basis of a good healthy eating plan and a fibroid diet represents a further development on from this.

One contributory factor in fibroid growth is an excess of estrogen. Now although some of this is hereditary, there are also other sources, including from our diet and from our fat stores. Sources from our diet can include non-organic meats and from plastics and packaging, which bring us an undesirable level of estrogen mimicking compounds which the body finds difficult to eliminate. It is therefore advisable to stick to organic produce and try to buy foods which are not wrapped in plastics. Soft, microwaveable plastic wrap can be a culprit as the compounds can leach into the foods which are wrapped in them.

Healing Fibroids Naturally and Quickly

healing fibroids

If you have fibroids, like many women you may be very disappointed with the options offered to you by your doctor and you may have decided to try to discover if healing fibroids naturally and quickly is possible. The truth is that there really is no conventional treatment which will get rid of fibroids permanently, with even surgery often just a temporary fix.

The reason why conventional medicine is not much help is because of the nature of fibroids themselves. Fibroids actually grow in response of a number of factors. There is no "one" cause of fibroids and it is actually impossible to pinpoint the exact causes which might have caused your fibroids. However, it can be narrowed down to a range of possibilities, such as elements of your diet, lifestyle and hereditary factors. The only way to shrink fibroids is to eliminate the root causes from your life and this is something which is down to you and the efforts you are prepared to make.

Having said this, if you are prepared to make a number of lifestyle and dietary changes, then healing fibroids naturally and quickly can be perfectly possible for most women. You will need to be proactive and take charge of your own treatment. To be completely successful, you will need to use a system which includes the following protocols:-

* Toxin elimination

* Full dietary overhaul including supplementation

* Digestion enhancement including the immune system*

* Stress management

healing fibroids

* Relaxation

* Liver Cleansing

* Parasite elimination

* Exercise

Very often, the reason why certain plans fail is that they are not comprehensive enough. There is no doubt that, say, changing your diet to a fibroid-fighting diet may help give some symptomatic relief, it is unlikely to be successful in healing fibroids permanently.

Headaches Don't Begin in Your Head

type headache

Did you know that there are basically two types of headaches? They are vasoconstrictive and vasodilative and once you know which one you have, you can learn how to prevent them and stop the pain.

Vasoconstrictive Headaches

This type headache is generally caused by muscle tension in the neck and shoulders that inhibits the flow of blood and oxygen to the head. This muscle tension can be from many cause, stress, physical ailment or lymphatic stagnation.

Symptoms: Some people refer to these as "tension" headaches but they can be very severe. The symptoms include pressure, a tight, crushing pain that feels like your head is in a vice or being compressed. Many times the tension in the neck and shoulders can cause subluxation in the neck where the neck just feels like it's out of place.

Treatment: A chiropractor is skilled in relieving subluxations and may be helpful. You can also try massaging the neck, shoulders and head sometimes that works just as well. In addition to basic massage techniques, a hot compress can be helpful. Herbs, taken internally, will help to relax the muscles and increase blood flow to the head. These antispasmodic herbal remedies may also help:

Black Cohosh

Nerve Eight

Kava Kava

Lobelia

Herbal Sleep

Valerian

Stress Relief

Passion Flower

Ginkgo

Kudzu/St. John's Wort

Magnesium can also be very effective in relieving muscle tension and cramping. Taking Kudzu/St. John's wort and Magnesium on a regular basis may be effective in preventing further tension headaches. Natural headache relief is always a healthier choice than taking over the counter drugs which can have detrimental side effects to the body.

Herbalists say that there are many herbal remedies that can help increase your immune system; thereby cutting short the healing process. Herbal remedies can be taken in the form of supplements in the required dosages to help you fight your cold. Here are some examples:

1. Echinacea Herbal Supplements. Echinacea have been used over the centuries because not only can it cure the common cold but it can also treat other upper respiratory problems. Echinacea works by boosting the production of immune cells that help fight disease. It is recommended that echinacea be taken in the form of a tincture or as a capsule or tablet. This is not an herb that you should take constantly though. Instead, take it at the first signs of illness, then for 1 or 2 weeks afterwards before you stop taking it for a while. Headaches Defined and Treatments that Actually Work

over counter

Headaches are quite common. Everybody gets them, albeit some are more severe than others and some can indicate something more severe. Everyone has had them - sinus and allergy headaches, migraines, etc... This article will answer the questions of what causes them and how we should treat them.

Tension and allergy related headaches. When you feel pressure in your sinus areas or if you feel pressure around the top part of your head this is what you are experiencing. They are usually a dull bothersome ache that feels like a weight hanging from that area. They also tend to slow your reactions and make you lethargic. They can last from a few hours to a few days. Allergy headaches are usually associated with sneezing, stuffy nose, and can drain from one side to the other. Treatment for these headaches is similar - acetaminophnen (ibuprofen) usually works to reduce the severity of this headache. Also, Claritin works well for alergy related symptoms. For more severe tension headaches doctors have been known to use oxygen machines and a few injectable drugs that give a more immediate effect.

Migraines. These can be quite serious and are by far the most painful. They feel like a burst blood vessel or artery as they have a pulsing feel to them. They can be so painful that they can make you sick to your stomach (nausea), cause light sensativity and even virtigo. Migraines are quite prevalent and can also indicate something more severe like a brain tumor, a weakened blood vessel, abnormal changes in blood pressure and pH, etc... Repeated patterns of migraines or other headaches should be brought to the attention of your doctor for this reason. Your body many times will tell you when something is wrong and a abnormal or irregular headache or bodyache that has become chronic is a good indication that something may be off. It may be as simple as a hormonal imbalance, new stress, etc... Regardless, your doctor knows best and it should be brought to their attention. There are over the counter products that contain pain relievers and caffeine that may work. Doctors usually prescribe beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, and other various narcotics.

Good Carbs, Bad Carbs, Ugly Carbs - Carbohydrates in Your Diet

100% whole

Good carbs, bad carbs... What's the difference?

Good carbs, bad cards -- they're both carbohydrates. The short word for carbohydrates is "carbs." Carbs are organic compounds composed of hydrogen and oxygen (like water). Naturally, they are called carbohydrates. The abbreviation is CHO -- carbon, hydrogen and oxygen. Together, the carbohydrates in your diet, proteins and fats comprise the three essential macronutrients your body needs for good health.

What do Carbohydrates do?

The most important carbohydrate is glucose, a simple sugar (monosaccaride) that is metabolized by nearly all known organisms. The human body, through aerobic respiration, metabolizes glucose and oxygen to release energy with carbon dioxide and water as byproducts. The brain and neurons generally cannot burn fat for energy, but can use glucose or ketones. Oxidation of 1 gram of carbohydrates yields approximately 4 kcal of energy -- hence we say 1 gram = 4 Calories (capital C means 1000).

The Good Carbs

Whole grains include the whole seeds, not just the refined flour inside the seed shell. The germ of the grain has lots of vitamins and minerals. Whole grains contain phytochemicals such as lignans, flavenoids and polyphenols. Most whole wheat products are brown in color. Fiber can't be digested, so it helps slow down digestion making you feel full. Multi-grain breads are good. Oats are rich in beta glucans which absorbs cholesterol. Buy 100% whole grain breads and 100% whole grain pastas.

The Bad Carbs

Nutritionally, all sugars are the same. White sugar, raw sugar and honey should be used as little as possible. Instead, rely on the naturally-occurring simple carbs in fruits and vegetables.

Healing Fibroids Naturally - How to Shrink Fibroids Without Surgery

ways healing

A few years ago now, I started to look for ways of healing fibroids naturally after being diagnosed with multiple fibroids-the largest of which was the size of a small melon. Indeed, my abdomen, according to my doctor, was the size of a seven month pregnancy!

We talked through all the surgical options and because of the size of the fibroids, a hysterectomy was recommended. I needed some time to think and research my options as there was no way I wanted to lose my uterus. Not only was I reluctant to undergo major surgery, but I was worried about the psychological and physical effects of losing part of my womanhood.

My avid research led me to a comprehensive system of treatment which promised to teach ways of healing fibroids naturally. I was naturally skeptical, but went forward with it because I was running out of options. I embraced the system and followed it rigorously. It required my to make various changes to my lifestyle and diet. In addition, there were herbs and supplements which were relevant in my particular case and I had to keep track of it all. In the early days, there were honestly times when I felt like giving up as although I felt less discomfort from my fibroids even in the early days of treatment, I could not see any progress in my quest to shrink fibroids. However, I persevered and after a couple of months, I began to notice subtle changes. My clothes were feeling slightly looser and I didn't look quite as bloated.

forward with

Three months down the line, I went for a follow up scan. This was to be the time when I decided whether to press forward with my surgery or not. My doctor confirmed that the largest fibroid had indeed shrank slightly and said there was no harm in carrying on with the treatment. Within 9 months, I was more or less symptom-free and although they had not disappeared, my fibroids were of a completely manageable size and the system of healing fibroids naturally had worked.

Good Carbs? Bad Carbs? What the Heck?

refined carbs

When talking on the topic of carbohydrates, the most frequently asked question would have to be 'What's the difference between good and bad carbs other than the name?'. Well here I am to help clear up a lot of that confusion.

Let's get one thing straight, on paper low carb diets do work. However I believe the main reason for this success is due to peoples inability to control their consumption of refined carbs - breads, pastas, cakes, candies, sweets etc. However, a reduction in these types of carbs will help you lose weight. Conversely if you continue to over eat these types of refined carbs you will find it nearly impossible to lose any weight - even if you exercise like a maniac. Your blood sugar levels, insulin levels and metabolism will all be poorer for it.

Even carbs that are seemingly 'healthy' are really calories that you are going to have to burn off, and to top it off these carbs are not going to give your body the nutrients it needs - Or if you will, a very small bang for your buck. Marketers have conditioned us to believe that most whole grain breads are indeed good for us. I tend to disagree, the reason being is that these products will contain refined flour, which will affect your bloody sugar levels. This has two outcomes, firstly your appetite is not appeased and secondly down the road you may be the proud owner of type two diabetes.

It is my opinion that most people struggling to lose weight would see better results by following the following rules:

Decrease your intake of grain based foods and eat more free range meats and dairy, an awful lot of vegetables - raw and cooked.

Heal Your Acne the Proven and Natural Way

natural acne

If you’re currently suffering from acne, you are not alone. Over 90% of people will have acne sometime in their lives. A high percentage of those will carry their acne condition into their adult lives.

Acne is mostly classified as a “personal problem”, meaning that it can have effects in your personal life. It can have a major affect on dating, relationships, self esteem, and many other nuances that make you who you are. While I agree that it does have a huge affect in these areas, for adults it can also be what I call a “professional problem”.

Since many people think that the only people who are constantly plagued by acne are teenagers, the thought of acne has been closely coupled with adolescence. When a professional business man or woman enters a room and is suffering from acne, he or she is looked upon as unprofessional, and all those traits that are normally associated with adolescence.

This is common human nature, and it is not your fault. While knowing it is not your fault provides very little comfort, you will be glad to know that there are things you can do to help your acne…right now!

Below is a small list of things that you can do to help rid yourself of acne. It is my philosophy that acne should be cured naturally, and believe me, there are definitely natural acne cures out there that work!

1. You should be using a chemical free skin cleanser every day. By cleaning your skin, you can help eliminate new blemishes from forming. Cleaning your skin every day is the best thing you can do to achieve healthy, acne free skin.

Heal Stretch Marks Through Safe and Natural Means

stretch marks

First of all you should realize that you can't heal stretch marks in the blink of an eye. The marks on your skin are scars on the inner layer of your skin. Like any other scar, these streaks can resist attempts to remove them. This is even if you decide to aggressively attack them.

Some people have the mistaken notion for example that expensive clinic visits will do the trick. You can opt for laser therapy, dermabrasion or even surgery. In some people, these methods may work. In others however, they may only produce moderate results. The procedures may even be accompanied by risks and side effects that may be temporarily unpleasant at the very least or damaging at the worst. This is why you may prefer to heal stretch marks naturally.

Natural means are safer than aggressive methods. Most ingredients used for stretch mark conditions in particular are safe as long as they are used correctly. Even pregnant women may use some natural products as indicated on product packet instructions. In any case, if aggressive means do not work completely, wouldn't you rather avoid possible side effects by using safe solutions?

heal stretch

There are two major types when it comes to natural solutions. You can use home remedies directly or you can use a product with natural ingredients. These can help nourish, rejuvenate, repair and promote the general health of your skin.

There is still no guarantee that natural means can heal stretch marks completely. Nonetheless, they seem to offer a genuine chance for healthy and safe healing.

Good Carbs, Bad Carbs - How Do I Choose?

good carb foods

Carbohydrate Food Selection

This is rather a controversial topic. The popular diet plans in the market have contributed confusion among the consumers when it comes to including carbohydrates (carbs) in the diet. The consumers are often faced with a challenge in their selection of carbohydrate foods where they either don't know what to consume and what to avoid or are perplexed with whether or not to consume carbohydrate foods at all.

Carbohydrates have been providing energy to the human body since the beginning of the evolution. In other words, our human bodies have adapted to consume carbohydrate foods for millions of years. Therefore, an avoidance of carbohydrate from our diet would not be ideal. However, a precaution needs to be taken for the selection of good carbs over the bad carbs.

Good Carbs

The sources of good carbs are whole grains like rice, wheat, oat, barley, whole grain cereals, whole grain breads, fruits, vegetables, etc. The good carb foods are generally low in sugar, fat and salt - the three main enemies of good health. The good carb foods like fruits contain a complex form of sugar that is not so readily absorbed in the human body and thereby keeps your blood sugar levels low. The good carb foods are also in general high in fiber. Therefore, replacing the carbohydrate portion of your daily diet with these good carbs would be a step towards better health.

good carb foods

Bad Carbs

They are mainly derived from processed foods and sweet snacks and desserts, such as, candies, cookies, chips, doughnuts, brownies, Danish, etc. Their sugar content is very high. Some of these foods may also be high in fat, salt and overall calories. These bad foods, in addition to being high in calories, are burned quickly by the body and make you hungry again. Unfortunately, the foods available in the western world are abundant in bad carbs. It has also to do somewhat with the western culture. For example, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners would not be complete without pies and cakes, the spirit of the month of Christmas is incomplete if homemade cookies are missing, and taking candies out of Halloween and Ester is like taking a fish out of water. So over the time, people in the western world have gotten accustomed to consuming foods high in these sugary foods. A big part of this trend is contributed by the processed food industry.

Health and Diseases is Simply a Status of Free Radicals & Antioxidants Balance

anti oxidant

WHAT ARE FREE RADICALS?

A free radical is defined as an atom, which has an unpaired electron - an electrically imbalanced atom. These are highly reactive and they always try to steel an electron from another molecule nearby by creating an imbalance of the molecules or cells.Redox Chain: (Reduction oxidation reaction chain): When a free radical steals an electron from a nearby molecule it makes the other molecule a free radical. This is called free radical chain or Redox Chain.

SOURCES OF FREE RADICALS:Human body is exposed to free radicals within the body (intrinsic) or from outside (Extrinsic).

INTRINSIC - SOURCES (INTERNAL)

1.Incomplete use of oxygen in the mitochondria.

2.Phagocytic cells releasing peroxides.

3.Interaction with cellular metals.

4.Oxidant enzymes - Cyclo-Oxyginase, MAO etc.

EXTRINSIC - SOURCES (EXTERNAL)

1.Air pollutants.

2.Cigarette smoke.

3.Ultra violet rays / sunlight.

4.Radiation.

5.Drugs.

6.Foods etc.

INTRINSIC:Free radicals are formed by incomplete aerobic metabolism in the mitochondria. These are called super oxide radicals.Metals like iron and copper can produce free radicals in the presence of ferrous metals & can react with super oxide radicals to form reactive radicals (OH2-).

Phagocytic cells:Macrophages and other phagocytic cells produce hydrogen peroxide to kill intracellular organisms and it also damages surrounding cells, common occurrence in inflammatory reactions.

Oxidant enzymes:The enzymes cyclo-oxygenase, monoamine oxidases etc, are essential for prostaglandin formation and degradation of catecholamines & during the process, free radicals are formed.

Good Carbs and Bad Carbs Explained

body will

With the raising popularity of low carb diets, people have been scared away from most carbs, which is quite unfortunate given how it's the primary source for your body to look into for energy. Let's settle this question once and for all, so you can enjoy your carbs - the good ones.

Carbohydrates are made up of glucose, fuctose, and galactose, which are chains of molecules.

Simple carbs contain smaller chains of sugar that are two molecules long. Your digestive system will break down these molecules easily and quickly, making absorption quick. Now the issue with this is that it will raise your blood sugar levels. Your body will deal with this by producing insulin which will rid the body of the excess sugar, turning it into fat. These are the infamous bad carbs, as all the do is taste good, and add fat. The nutritional value is close to nil. Not to mention the whole array of diseases you are attracting by having high insulin levels in your blood. The exception to this rule would be fruits. While their sugar content is simple sugars, they actually have nutritional value, and their fiber content will slow down the digestion process, lowering the blood sugar spike. Fruit juices are slightly less potent than actual fruits in that regard for their lower fiber content, but could be an acceptable alternative depending on your insulin sensitivity.

blood sugar levels

Complex carbs are simply a longer chain of molecules. Your body will digest these much slower, as it takes more time to break down the molecules. Vegetables, legumes and whole grains fall in this category. Taking more time to break down the molecules is a good thing, as it does not give rise to that insulin spike as a reaction to the elevated blood sugar levels. These are where most of your carb intake should come from.

Headaches Come in All Forms - What Is a Tension Headache?

believed that

Butalbital is commonly found in the prescribed medications for relief of many types of headaches e.g. tension headaches. Combined with either aspirin or acetaminophen, and some caffeine makes it even more effective.

Acetaminophen serves the purpose of reducing fever and pain while the caffeine de-constricts the blood vessels. The cause of tension headaches are due to constricted blood vessels. Hence, this drug is classified as a barbiturate. By slowing down the nerve impulses of the brain and central nervous system, it makes one relax. Acetaminophen together with caffeine and butalbital are effective for pain and discomfort relief.

For decades, Butalbital is commonly used to relieve mild to moderate headaches, especially tension headaches. In fact, butalbital has been used as a good substitute especially for those patients who are unable to take NSAIDs (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs), opioids and other pain relief medications.

Emotional stress has been a major contributor to tension headaches. Statistics show that one in five people experience at least a tension headache every month. Fortunately for most people, tension headaches usually lasts for a short time.

Here are the common symptoms:

- Tight feeling around the head, neck or across the eyes

- Pain (not limited to only one area of the head)

Causes of tension headaches includes the following:

- Bright sunlight

- Extreme heat/cold

- Tense muscles especially in the neck and scalp

- Caffeine

- Noise

- Cigarette smoke
